What we collect, why, and who sees it.

Under legal review. This page sets out the substance of our practice in plain language. The final policy text is with counsel and will replace this page before the site goes to production. If you need a definitive answer about your information today, email corporate@themortgageexchange.com and we will answer it directly.

Who this is about

CME Lending Group LLC, doing business as The Mortgage Exchange, NMLS #1248883, 890 E Sidewalk Rd, Chesterton, IN 46304.

What we collect

  • What you give us. Your name, contact details, and the information you provide when you ask us about a loan or apply for one — which for a mortgage application includes financial information such as income, assets, debts and Social Security number.
  • What we obtain in order to lend. Credit reports, employment and asset verification, and property information, obtained with your authorization as part of processing your application.
  • What the website records. Standard technical information about your visit, such as pages viewed and the source you arrived from.

What we do with it

We use it to answer your enquiry, to originate, process, underwrite and close your loan, to meet our legal and regulatory obligations, and to contact you about your file. Mortgage lending is a heavily regulated activity and much of what we collect we are required to collect.

Who else sees it

Your information is shared with the parties needed to complete your transaction — which may include credit bureaus, appraisers, title and settlement agents, insurers, investors and lending partners, government agencies and their programs, and the service providers that run our loan origination and customer systems. We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to stop contacting you for marketing purposes. Some records we are legally required to retain regardless. Email corporate@themortgageexchange.com or call 888-435-7070.

Separately, financial institutions are required to give you a specific notice about sharing financial information, with an opt-out where one applies. That notice is at Financial Privacy.

Text messaging and your mobile information

If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive text messages, we use it to send you updates about your loan and, where you have asked for them, occasional messages about rates and homeownership.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party except the messaging providers we use to deliver the messages on our behalf, and those providers are not permitted to use the information for any other purpose.

Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to cancel at any time or HELP for help. See our SMS Terms and Conditions for details.

A word about security

We will never ask you for your password, card details, or bank account numbers by email or text message, and we will never email you wiring instructions out of the blue. Wire fraud in real estate is real and it is aimed at buyers at closing. If you receive anything of the sort claiming to be from us, do not act on it — call the office handling your file on a number you already have.
